Remember, trust is clearly a virtue! :P

It’s one of my worst virtues, actually. I trust people I shouldn’t

Oh, that’s hard… I think there’s mostly variations upon variations of seasonings used but unflavoured sausage that’s not cut up? Might be difficult to find. We shall see.

Yeah, see here there’s

Breakfast Sausage - pre-seasoned/flavored, small, uncooked (usually), sold in the meat dept of the grocery store

Dinner Sausage - sometimes pre-seasoned/flavored sometimes not, much larger, uncooked (usually), sold in the meat dept

Snack Sausage - smoked and fully cooked, pre-seasoned/flavored, wrapped up and ready to eat, sold with the deli or the seasonal stuff (popular around christmas)

And I assume hot dogs are a type of sausage on a technicality, but I don’t think they deserve to be in the same breath as these other sausages.

Re: sausages

Wow, that’s pretty small variations. Here it’s mostly like this:

Breakfast sausages do not exist because cooked intact sausages are only consumed at BBQ opportnities.

At first you have sausage to put on bread and secondly sausage you don’t put on bread. #2 is mostly like Dinner(=designated for frying) sausage and snack sausage. Local variations thrive wildly. The most suprior sausage of all frying sausages is clearly the Thuringian Frying Sausage. Don’t laugh, it’s protected by the EU and serious business. My view is in no way formed by where I’m from.

Sausage for bread is again devided into sliced and spread. Also many, many variations.

Re: militaries

I think the problem is that this often isn’t communicated outside the US. When a reporter/correspondent gets there he comes with the same prejudice as everyone and doesn’t have the time to review them while doing his job. Nobody gets told in English 101 that Americans of all people have politeness hang-ups compared to us or what exactly the difference between the words Free Speech is on either continent. You desperately need that information but it’s not taught.

So the reporter goes there and ends up thinking that Fox News is a respectable News source because nobody communicated otherwise. And you get the same picture transported back to Europe. Of course, the reverse is probably almost as flawless.
